MVSC History
The origins of Modbury Vista can be traced back to the formation of the Para Vista Junior Soccer Club in 1969 where the club played in the Elizabeth and Districts Junior Soccer Association for the first time in 1970. The club changed its name to Modbury Vista Soccer Club in 1973 and was based at Kelly Road in Modbury North.
Origins
Modbury Vista entered its first senior team into the Amateur League in 1975 and immediately won the Division 6 title. Success followed quickly with a top finish in 1976 followed by consecutive second places in 1977 and 1978 that saw the club promoted into Division 2 for 1979. That year the club changed its name to Modbury United and played at the Modbury Soccer Ground on Milne Road, Modbury North.
Early success
In 1980 Modbury United was admitted into the South Australia Soccer Federation. The Para Vista Soccer Club that was based at the Para Vista High School took the place of Modbury United in Division 2 in the Amateur League. This club finished 9th and were relegated. At the same time Modbury United played in Division 6 of the SA Soccer Federation at the Milne Road ground. Modbury United disappeared in 1982.
South Australian Soccer Federation
The Para Vista Soccer Club struggled for a few years as its senior teams found itself in Division 5 in 1984.
In 1987 the club was unable to field a senior team and dropped out of the Amateur League altogether.
During this time Modbury Vista Soccer Club continued to have junior teams playing in the Elizabeth and Districts Junior Soccer Association and were based at Kelly Road, Modbury North.
Decline of Para Vista
Modbury Vista Soccer Club relocated to Richardson Reserve, Richardson Drive in Wynn Vale in 1991. This was the beginning of a new era for Modbury Vista which is still based at Richardson Reserve today.
Since relocating to Richardson Reserve, Modbury Vista Soccer Club has enjoyed much success with the club winning many titles and Challenge Cups in the junior Elizabeth and Districts Soccer Association and league titles with its senior men’s teams in the South Australian Amateur Soccer League.
This was highlighted with the club winning 8 of the 9 Challenge Cup finals in 2013 (the 40 year anniversary of Elizabeth and Districts Junior Soccer Association).
Relocation
In 2015 Modbury Vista Soccer Club started entering junior teams in the Football Federation of South Australia (FSA) and in 2017 entered senior men’s teams in the Football of South Australia State League. In addition the club now fields female only teams in the FSA girls leagues and senior ladies community leagues.
FSA
In 2019 work commenced on the redevelopment of Richardson Reserve where two full size state of the art synthetic pitches were installed and brand new state of the are LED light towers to enable night matches to be played.
In 2020 work commenced on the new 3 storey clubrooms that will serve Modbury Vista Soccer Club and the community well into the future.
In 2021 the new 3 storey clubrooms were completed.
